DESIGNER HATS

This page shows you a few of the designers you will find at Fino Fino. The hats shown are representative of the work of each designer but these are only a few of what we generally have in stock. Shown here are some popular styles in both felt and straw. Although we always have a few out-of-season hats, most stock at any given time will be for the current season. Many of these designers use a headsize ribbon that adjusts to fit or most will make special sizes to order.

Don't miss Fino Fino's Annual Holiday Hats Trunk Show on Saturday, December 5th, 12:30 - 5:30 P.M. with a "preview" evening Friday, December 4th, 5:30-8:30 P.M.   Meet local milliner, Wayne Wichern, DeAnna Gibbons, San Francisco, and Jean Hicks, Seattle and see their exciting new designs for the holidays.  Lots of cocktail hats!

WAYNE WICHERN
Wayne Wichern is a local Bay Area hat maker who also teaches millinery. His signature felt feathers and felt leaves adorn many of his styles. He does blocked, sewn, and straw braid styles and all exhibit his exemplary fine workmanship.

The Silk Traveler is shown in two brim sizes and also an organza version. Available in a wide array of colors this hat packs flat to travel. Fallen Leaves displays beautiful felt leaves.

The Trumpet Vine is made of hemp braid.
The Steeplechase is another dramatic hemp braid hat.
The Slouch is reminiscent of the Ingrid Bergman hat in Casablanca, but sports one of Wayne's felt feathers.

DeANNA GIBBONS
DeAnna Gibbons is a San Francisco milliner who often uses vintage materials and trims to construct her hats. Be sure to check out her cocktail hats on the cocktail hat page.

DARIA WHEATLEY
Seattle milliner, Daria Wheatley, is the creator of one of our most popular hats, the Edwardian Beret. She does this hat in many color combinations and in either a winter felt/wool combination or a summer linen/straw version. It flatters most faces and is easy to pack. Daria also does blocked hats in both felt and straw and most are one-of-a-kind.

KOKIN
New York designer, Steve Kokin, creates a wide array of dramatic felt, fabric, or straw hats. Here are a few of his most popular styles:

Ruffle Upsweep made of grosgrain ribbon is available in many colors. It is easily crushable for packing and it has a moldable wire to shape the brim any way you like.
The Orchid Beret is a classic wool beret with self-fabric flowers. Lotus Upsweep

KATE BISHOP
Arizona milliner, Kate Bishop, creates her distinctive hats from grass cloth. They are amazing in that most styles can be worn in several ways. These are very sophisticated hats that are not for the faint-hearted.

The International Playgirl can be worn with the brim up or down and the handmade satin flower can be removed and worn as a cocktail hat.
Kate's Square Brim hat is unusual but beautifully wearable. It is adorned with one of Kate's handmade flowers (a separate piece on this hat).
Amazingly, this hat folds flat to travel.

JEAN HICKS
Seattle milliner, Jean Hicks, makes her own felt from which she "sculpts" the hat. Her hats are weather-proof and a delight to wear.

Angela in Polka Dots is a beautiful hat from any direction.

Mesquita
A classic toque goes anywhere.
The whimsical Ross is fun to wear.

ERIC JAVITS
Another New York designer, Eric Javits, creates his hats from his own "Squishee" fabric that looks like straw. His hats are very popular and very packable and available in a number of colors.

The Squishee Cap has a short brim in back making it easy to wear in the car or sit in a deck chair.
The Squishee IV is versatile and rollable.
The Deauville is a classic shape.

FINO FINO
Owner, Carolyn Busch, makes hats under the Fino Fino label, often using fine vintage straws.

The Daisy cloche has a Great Gatsby feel and an adjustable fit.
Dale has Western styling in a fine vintage straw.
Aimee has a pleated brim and a soft, romantic look.

The classic Trilby is a soft, feminine fedora in fur felt velour.
